The Parklands at South Bank

Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands feature 17 hectares of lush gardens and lawns, the Clem Jones Promenade next to the Brisbane River and the magnificent Arbour. The open, public spaces are accessible 24 hours a day, every day of the year.  It is the place where the residents of our city come together to celebrate family functions as well as national events such as Australia Day.  Visitors to Brisbane are attracted to South Bank for its relaxed atmosphere and opportunity to swim, walk, ride, eat or see a show.

There are several barbecues across The Parklands.  All of the barbecues are free to use but they cannot be booked in advance for functions.
*Please note that we are currently in the process of upgrading all barbeques to a new electric system. In the mean time this might mean fewer operational barbeques available in the Parklands.

There are restrictions on the consumption of alcohol in certain areas of South Bank parklands.

You are welcome to throw a frisbee or ball or you could hire bocce (boule) sets from the Visitor Information Centre for a game on the lawn. Riding of bikes and skateboards is limited to certain areas. The kids will love the three playgrounds to slide and swing and climb on.

Dogs  are welcome at South Bank.

South Bank has been awarded the best public sector development in the world by the International Real Estate Federation and the world’s best downtown public space by the International Downtown Association.  More information on these awards and other awards received by the South Bank Parklands is available from South Bank Corporation.
