For more than 5,000 years, the people of Lebanon have enjoyed feasting on saj – a delicious style of flat bread. Saj is traditionally hand-rolled and cooked in a dome-shaped clay oven. True to its heritage, Saj & Grill at the southern end of Grey Street prepares saj in this time-honored manner, before filling it with a selection of Lebanese flavours. Each saj is baked fresh to order and you can choose from toppings including tender lamb, tomato, onion, herbs and fragrant spices, or, for breakfast, try saj bread wrapped around freshly prepared bacon and eggs. Saj & Grill also prepares other traditional Lebanese fare, including falafel and tabouli.
