Trains at South Bank Station

South Bank is conveniently located in the heart of Brisbane with frequent and local bus, train and ferry connections.

CityCats and Ferries

Combine a trip on the CityCats with a visit to South Bank.

The CityCat terminal is located outside the riverside restaurants on the Clem Jones Promenade. CityCats travel upstream as far as the University of Queensland and downstream to Brett’s Wharf Hamilton.

The maximum adult fare for one way travel on the CityCats and ferries is only $2.50. For $5 you get unlimited journeys all day, (plus any other rail or bus transport within two zones), and it’s cheaper on the weekend, off-peak times or for concessions.

The inner city ferry is located at South Bank 1 & 2 and goes to the city, north quay and kangaroo point.   For more information on timetables click here.

Buses

In addition to regular bus stops, South Bank has two Busway stations to make travel even easier. They are located in Melbourne Street (Cultural Centre Station) and at the corner of Colchester and Tribune Streets (South Bank Busway Station).

Brisbane City Buses stop at several locations around the South Bank precinct.

Trains

There are two train stations in South Bank;

  • South Bank Station (accessed from Tribune Street). South Bank station is closer to Little Stanley Street, Queensland Maritime Museum and the Goodwill Bridge end of the precinct.  
  • South Brisbane Railway Station (accessed via Melbourne Street). South Brisbane station is closest to QPAC and the Art Gallery and Museum.

Trains run regularly between South Bank Station and the Gold Coast. Statewide rail connections leave from Roma Street Station’s Transit Centre which is only one train stop away from South Bank.

  • Outside Southbank TAFE on Glenelg Street
