Get ActiveStretching along the southern banks of the Brisbane River, South Bank is an idyllic location to set out for a run, cycle, walk or to join some friends for organised fitness classes. Right now, you can join Active Stride for walking and running classes on Wednesday mornings from 6:00am, or join a social running group on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm outside the store on Grey Street. In addition, South Bank is welcoming the return of the popular Vaalia Yoghurt Feel Good Program, which will occur over two separate series in 2008 -2009. The program is free, with qualified instructors teaching Mind and Movement classes on Riverside Green each Tuesday evening from 5:30pm and on Saturday mornings from 8:00am. Saturday morning classes will be followed by Aqua Aerobics in the Boat Pool, adjacent to Streets Beach from 9:15am. The Vaalia Yoghurt Feel Good Program will return to The Parklands on Tuesday 3 February 2009 with weekly classes until Saturday 11 April 2009. The classes are set at times that cater to everybody, including our corporate community, and what’s more, they take place in beautiful surrounds alongside the Brisbane River, harnessing the best aspects of our city and climate. Each week, participants can enter the draw to win a special Vaalia prize pack, and at the end of each class everyone will receive a delicious sample of Vaalia low-fat Yoghurt. Other fitness opportunities exist within The Parklands at South Bank, and for those looking for a marked walk or run, take a look at the maps for the Brisbane River Run. All runs start and finish at South Bank Parklands and you can choose to run 3.35km, 6.47km or 8 km. The River Run takes in the best sights of Brisbane city, following the river and taking in the Goodwill Bridge, Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point cliffs. Keep an eye open for the fun runs, charity walks and other organised fitness events at South Bank.
