Staying Fit

South Bank is a great place to get some exercise and fresh air. It is an oasis in Brisbane’s inner city for people who like to run, walk beside the river, ride their bikes and rollerblades or participate in organised fitness events.

The Clem Jones Promenade (the pathway directly next to the river) is the best spot for riding your bike or walking the dog.  And if you want to be part of Brisbane’s cycling scene many bunch rides leave from South Bank or gather for a post-ride coffee in Little Stanley Street.

For a marked walk or run, take a look at the maps for the Brisbane River Run.  All runs start and finish at South Bank Parklands and you can choose to run 3.35km, 6.47km or 8 km. The River Run takes in the best sights of Brisbane city, following the river and taking in the Goodwill Bridge, Story Bridge and Kangaroo Point cliffs.

Keep an eye open for the fun runs, charity walks and other organised fitness events at South Bank.

If you want to do more than go for a stroll, take advantage of the gyms and personal trainers operating at South Bank.
