Brisbane’s riverside concert series presented by QPAC and South Bank is back, and the 2027 line-up is shaping up to be a big one.
On the Banks is returning to South Bank’s Cultural Forecourt across February and March 2027, bringing some seriously big names to the river.
The open-air concert series will once again transform the forecourt into a live music destination, with bars, food trucks and the Brisbane skyline providing the backdrop. And with five new acts just added to an already stacked program, there’s plenty to get excited about.
Joining previously announced headliners Fatboy Slim, Leon Bridges with 54 Ultra, Amyl and the Sniffers, The Avalanches with HAAI and Madness are British indie heavyweights Kasabian, Swedish-Argentine songwriter José González, New Zealand soul and dub favourites Fat Freddy’s Drop, UK drum and bass duo Chase & Status, plus a homegrown triple bill featuring Pete Murray, The Waifs and Pierce Brothers.
Things kick off on Wednesday, February 24, when Kasabian bring their festival-ready anthems to the forecourt, including the likes of Club Foot, Fire and Empire. The following night takes things in a more stripped-back direction, with José González bringing his unmistakable nylon-string sound to the river.
Then comes Amyl and the Sniffers on Friday, February 26, followed by Grammy-winning soul singer Leon Bridges with 54 Ultra to round out the opening run.
The series returns in March with Madness on Tuesday, March 2, bringing decades of British pop history and crowd favourites including Our House and It Must Be Love. A few days later, Fat Freddy’s Drop will bring their signature blend of dub, soul and reggae to South Bank, joined by special guests Sub-Tribe.
The following evening belongs to The Avalanches, who will return to Brisbane for the first time since 2021, with their latest album No Bad Memories adding another reason to make a night of it.
And then there’s Fatboy Slim. The electronic music legend will take over the Cultural Forecourt for two sold-out nights on March 9 and 10, before Chase & Status bring their high-energy drum and bass to the stage on Thursday, March 11.
The series wraps up with a distinctly Australian celebration on Saturday, March 13, when Pete Murray, The Waifs and Pierce Brothers join forces for a night of homegrown favourites.
