Friday nights just got a glow up at the Gallery of Modern Art, with GOMA Friday Nights running from 1 May to 26 June, 5.30 to 8.30pm. Part exhibition, part late-night hangout, it turns the gallery into a multi-sensory experience built for wandering, discovering and staying a little longer than planned.
At the centre is Olafur Eliasson: Presence, a Brisbane-exclusive showcase from Olafur Eliasson. Spanning three decades of work, the exhibition brings together large-scale installations, early works and immersive environments that shift how you see, move and experience space.
Step into the multi-sensory art of Eliasson, meet up with friends, and settle in with drinks and delicious bites from bespoke bars. Wander through the rocky, otherworldly landscape of Riverbed (2014), where water and stone reshape the gallery floor into something almost primordial. Then move into The cubic structural evolution project (2004), where visitors help build an ever-evolving LEGO city that constantly shifts and grows.
Each week, Brisbane’s best selectors take over the Vinyl Listening Bar, DJs set the mood in the River Room, and live performances pop up across the gallery, adding another layer to the experience.
It is immersive, social and just the right kind of unexpected, the kind of Friday night that feels like it stretches time a little. Book your tickets here.
