Alfresco fitspo

With oodles of year-round sunshine, get your dose of daily vitamin D and outdoor exercise via South Bank’s free fitness programs. The weekly timed 5km South Bank Parkrun kicks off every Saturday at 7am, while the free Feel Good Program fitness classes are hosted at Flowstate or the Boat Pool. Options include yoga, mat Pilates, cardio and aqua classes with sessions available in the mornings and evenings on most days. Check out the program here.

Gentle exercise

Lace up and head out on a scenic stroll in South Bank. Take the waterfront Clem Jones Promenade from the Epicurious Garden to the Cultural Precinct for a riverside walk, wander through the floral-festooned Arbour, and enjoy the South Bank to CBD bridge loop, spanning two bridges and parklands. For a longer walk, the 2.5km South Bank to Kangaroo Point route is seriously scenic and includes the famous cliff stairs for a challenge.

Riverside recovery

Cool down after a hot workout in one of South Bank’s three aquatic spaces. Enjoy a recovery swim and ground yourself on the sand at the Streets Beach lagoon or take an even slower pace at the Boat Pool, an expansive, crescent-shaped pool situated in the sparkling sunshine. Got the kids in tow? Splash about at the shallow Aquativity waterplay park for immersive fun under the sun.
