Meet Harajuku Gyoza’s New Lineup of Dessert Sandos

Anyone who has travelled to Japan knows the magic of a late-night konbini run. The country's convenience stores have earned a cult following for good reason, serving up everything from surprisingly good coffee to some of Japan's most-loved comfort foods. Sitting firmly at the top of that list is the humble Japanese sando.

If you've somehow missed Harajuku Gyoza's take on the iconic snack, consider this your reminder. And while the venue's savoury sando range has long been a drawcard, it's the dessert sandos that are currently stealing the spotlight.

Following the popularity of its Strawberry and Cream sando, Harajuku Gyoza has added two new flavours to its limited-time dessert lineup: Dubai Chocolate Pistachio and Crème Brûlée.

The Dubai Chocolate Pistachio brings the internet-famous pairing into sando form, with rich chocolate and pistachio tucked between thick slices of Japanese shokupan. It's decadent, nutty and very much in keeping with the dessert's viral status.

Then there's Crème Brûlée, which gives the classic custard dessert a Japanese twist. Creamy custard is packed inside fried shokupan, creating a combination of crisp, golden bread and soft, silky filling.

The original Strawberry and Cream remains part of the lineup, filled with Harajuku Gyoza's signature air cheesecake and topped with fresh strawberries. It's the lighter, fruit-forward option of the three and the sando that started the dessert obsession.

Across the range, the shokupan is just as important as what's inside. The thick Japanese milk bread is fried until golden and crunchy on the outside, while staying soft and fluffy within. That contrast between crisp, warm bread and cool, creamy fillings is what makes these sandos particularly hard to put down.

So, whether you're already a fan of Harajuku Gyoza's savoury sando range or you're simply here for dessert, there's now a very good reason to make your next visit a little sweeter.
