If a European summer escape didn’t make it onto your calendar this year, South Bank might just have the next best thing.
Azure is opening on 24 June at River Quay, bringing a long, sun-drenched Mediterranean energy to one of Brisbane’s most sought-after riverfront dining strips, and instantly giving locals a reason to lean into “holiday mode” without leaving the city.
Landing as a limited-time pop-up running through to March 2027, Azure is designed for exactly the kind of dining River Quay does best. Long lunches that stretch without warning, sunset drinks that roll into dinner, and tables that never seem to be in a rush to turn over.
It’s that European summer feeling, reimagined for Brisbane’s river. Unhurried, generous and built around shared dining, where the pace of the meal follows the afternoon rather than the clock.
The menu draws on coastal and Eastern Mediterranean influences, but what makes it click is how naturally it suits its setting. This is food made for sharing. Lamb rump with orzo, spanner crab lasagna, Moreton Bay bug rolls and a seafood platter showcasing Queensland’s best local produce all land with an easy confidence. Nothing overcomplicated, just plates that are made to be passed around and enjoyed together.
On the drinks list, Azure leans into that same late-afternoon rhythm. The Olio Sour brings a Mediterranean twist to the classic sour, using extra virgin olive oil for a smooth, rounded finish that feels made for golden hour. The Terra Margherita lifts things with citrus brightness, while a dedicated spritz menu and curated Australian and European wines round out the offering for long, lingering sessions by the water.
